About
Hello — I’m Angus.
I’m a holistic counsellor and Gestalt psychotherapist. My work is supporting people to notice what’s happening in their experience — the thoughts, feelings, sensations, and patterns that show up in the moment. As we explore these together, a more natural movement toward healing becomes possible, at a pace that’s genuinely led by you. We pay attention to what emerges between us, and I aim to work in a way that feels grounded, respectful, and attuned to your needs.
The approaches I use are intuitive and relational. This means that I pay close attention to what happens between us during sessions, and I vocalise what I notice in the moment — and I invite you to do the same.
Gestalt therapy is less about rigidity and therapeutic tasks, and more about the contact we make, building on our awareness, and exploring experiences in the context of the ‘here and now’.
The general aim is to help you reconnect with self-compassion, steadiness, and a greater sense of openness and flexibility.
I have worked in both community health and private practice with people experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship and intimacy concerns, parenting challenges, family violence, and substance or behavioural struggles: alcohol, prescription and illicit drugs, gambling, porn, sex, and food. Very little will be unfamiliar to me, and all of it is welcome.
The work is grounded in solid therapeutic training and evidence-based practice, but you won’t feel theory in the room. You’ll feel a real conversation with someone paying close attention to you, to your experience, and to what’s unfolding between us in the moment.
Each of those is set out in more detail on the home page — anxiety, depression, relationships and family, alcohol, drugs and behaviour, and LGBTQIA+ affirming practice.
